Happy Friday, everyone!
I hope you’ve all had a wonderful week, whether it’s just another week for you or if you’re spending time with family and friends for Thanksgiving. Speaking of Thanksgiving, this week I wrote a blog post with some thoughts about gratitude, so if you missed that, feel free to check it out!
Song of the Week
It’s officially Christmas season now, so enjoy my favorite Christmas song.
- From Dear Evan Hansen: The musical’s cast performed “You Will Be Found” at the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade yesterday (featuring Noah Galvin, who has recently taken on the role of the titular character).
- From WIRED: Joe Keery and Gaten Matarazzo from Stranger Things answered the Internet’s burning questions about the show and themselves.
- From Blimey Cow: “Politics Killed the Holidays” and “When Homeschoolers Grow Up“
- Also, A Wrinkle in Time, which has always held a special place in my heart, is getting a movie, and their most recent trailer looks fantastic.
In school… I didn’t have much going on this week, since Thanksgiving break is here, but I did have an exam on Monday that I think went pretty well! Right now, I’m just working on a few things while I’m at home so I can stay on top of everything.
Writing… my NaNo novel, still! I hit 40,000 words yesterday, which means I’m right on track for finishing. I can’t believe there’s only one week left! It’s coming up so fast. As a side note, I’ve realized that everything I had planned for this one story was far too much for one “book” so to speak, so I think I’ll be going back and splitting up my outline later on. For right now though, I’m just glad to get the words written down.
Reading… Rose Under Fire by Elizabeth Wein. I finished All the President’s Men last weekend, and I also read Gamer Girl by Mari Mancusi soon after. Gamer Girl wasn’t really a great book, unfortunately, but it was short, so I was able to get through it quickly. Plus, the cliche-ness of it made it easy to laugh at. Rose Under Fire is a fantastic read though, and I’m so glad I bought it.
Watching… nothing right now, but I did watch The Outsiders a few days ago! All things considered, it was a pretty good movie, and very accurate to the book, minus a few things. I enjoyed having time to watch it.
Looking forward to… Building a gingerbread house with my mom this weekend, going to one of my brother’s shows on Saturday, and going to church on Sunday.
Thankful for… broccoli cheddar soup, chapstick, Chick-Fil-A milkshakes, getting ahead on NaNo, that my French recitation went well, seeing my family again, getting a new haircut, and spending time with my family.
