My Favorite Christmas Traditions

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays, everyone!

I’m sure many of you are spending time with your family and friends on this Christmas Day, but since it’s still a Monday, I still wanted to share a short post with you. And, since it’s Christmas, I thought it would be nice to share some of my favorite family traditions around the holidays. I’ll make sure I keep it short so you can get back to spending the day with your loved ones!

Watching A Charlie Brown Christmas

If you asked me to, I could probably recite a pretty good portion of this classic Christmas special. My dad is a big fan of Peanuts, so I’ve grown up watching all of the cartoons, and every year, my family watches A Charlie Brown Christmas together. Perhaps part of it’s nostalgia, but I’ve always thought this was one of the best Christmas specials. Charlie Brown’s search for “what Christmas is all about” is something I think we can all still relate to today.

Going to the Christmas Eve Candlelight Service

Every Christmas Eve, my church has an evening candlelight service, which is always extra special. There’s always good music, and it was especially enjoyable this year because my brother is a part of the music team. Plus, all of the glowing candles in the sanctuary is such a beautiful sight.

Reading the Bible on Christmas Day

Ever since I was a kid, we’ve always had a specific routine for Christmas morning: Wake up, get dressed, eat breakfast together, and then read the Bible together. I have really fond memories of sitting on the couch with my family, reading Luke 2 on Christmas morning. Things are a little different this year, but I’ll always look back on this tradition happily.
