Afterwords: Top 5 Heroines

Once upon a time, I wrote a blog post that was appropriately titled “Top 5 Heroines.” It was, as you might guess, a list of my favorite heroines from books. Now, even though I wrote that blog post three years ago, I still stand by it. There were some really awesome female characters on that list: June Iparis from the Legend trilogy, Cammie Morgan from Gallagher Girls, Deryn Sharp from the Leviathan trilogy, Reyna Ramirez-Arellano from The Heroes of Olympus, and Stargirl from Stargirl.

But I also wrote that blog post three years ago. I’ve read (and re-read) a lot of books since then, and I’ve fallen in love with both new characters and old. So while I still love and adore all of the ladies on my original list, I thought it was a good time to show some appreciation for a few of my other favorite heroines.

Week In Review – October 20

Welcome to Friday, everyone!

As you may know, I was on Fall Break last week, and I stayed on campus with a bunch of my friends for the long weekend. We went to a local animal shelter and spent time with the cats and dogs there, visited a corn maze, went on late night adventures to diners, and just had a great time in general. It was such an amazing break, and I’m so thankful for the time we got to spend together!

I also participated in my first readathon with my roommate, Charmaine – we spent Saturday trying to read as many pages as possible. I ended up finishing a book, which was relatively short, but it helped me catch up on my reading goal of the year. I think Charmaine’s planning on putting a video together for it eventually, so when she does, I’ll be sure to link to it. [UPDATE: Here’s the link to the video!]

And finally, I got to meet an author on Sunday! I went to Elizabeth Wein’s event at a bookstore near my school, and I was able to get two books signed by her. It was so cool to meet her in real life

This week I published two blog posts: On Monday, I shared my tips for visiting college campuses, and on Wednesday, I participated in the Beautiful Books linkup for NaNoWriMo. I’m really enjoyed putting both of these posts together, so if you missed them, feel free to take a look!

Week In Review – October 13

Welcome to Friday, everyone!

I had a pretty busy week this week, but now I’m happily enjoying my fall break, and things are pretty relaxed right now. This past weekend, I was home visiting my family and I had the opportunity to participate in the local AFSP Out of the Darkness Walk for suicide prevention. It was really an amazing event, and I was so glad I got to be a part of it. Thank you for your support!

This week, I wrote a blog post about why I don’t delete old posts on social media. It’s an idea I’ve been kicking around for a while, and I was finally able to put it into words this week. I’d love to hear your thoughts on it!

As for the rest of the week…

Week In Review – Jan 6

I really like how my background for the winter WIRs is my snow covered backyard, and yet we haven’t gotten any snow here yet, aside from the occasional dusting. Welcome to winter in Pennsylvania.

I’m not really sure if I’m relieved or disappointed about the lack of snow, but my weather-related musings aside, I’ve had a pretty great week! I moved back into school this week for J-Term, which is a short term that takes place before the spring semester starts. It’s 15 days with just one class, but the class period is about three hours long. It sounds kinda crazy, but it’s a nice way to focus in on one subject and get some credits out of the way.

Anyway, I don’t want to give away everything that’s going on, so click below to read about the rest of my week!
