I was going to make some kind of remark like “wow, the month went by really fast!” before I remembered that February is in fact the shortest month of the year so of course it went by fast. Anyway, even though it was short, February was a good month with a lot of cool stuff happening.
Before I get into that though, if you missed any of my blog posts this month, I blogged about…
I hope you’re all doing well and have had a great week! Aside from some rather nasty seasonal allergies, I’m doing pretty well myself. I had a three-day weekend because of Memorial Day, so it was nice to have an extra break from work.
Speaking of Monday, this week I blogged about acronyms in video games and tried to explain a few of the most common ones. If it ever seems like gamers are speaking a completely foreign language, perhaps this guide will help you out a little.
Before I get into the WIR for this week, I did want to make a quick blog announcement – for June – August, I’ve decided to put a pause on WIR posts. This is partly just to give myself a break so I can focus more on doing other things with my blog, but I also want to use this time to experiment with my “personal updates” format.
For the summer, I’ll be doing monthly updates instead of weekly ones, and they’ll be going out on the first Friday after the end of the month (so for example, the June in Review will be posted on the first Friday in July). At the end of the summer, I might go back to weekly posts, or I might stick with the monthly ones, but for now, let’s consider this a “trial period.”
I’m pretty excited about this week – I finished my sophomore year of college on Monday, and I started working at my summer job on campus later in the week. So far, things are going really well! It’s a bit different than other jobs I’ve worked in the past, but I love it and I’m excited for what the summer holds.
I hope you’re all doing well and that you’ve enjoyed this last full week of April. I can’t believe the month has gone by so quickly, to be honest – it still feels like Easter was last week, but it’ll be May in just a few days. Still, I’m looking forward to next month – I’ll be celebrating my birthday, going to a concert, and finishing up my second year of college, which I’m excited about.
It’s been kind of a crazy week, but I’m really happy the weekend is here now. I’m looking forward to having time to relax, but also getting some work done too. This blog doesn’t write itself, after all!
Speaking of blogging, this week I wrote about some lessons I’ve learned from Pokémon, one of my favorite video games since childhood. I think there’s a lot that these simple games can teach us about life, but I’d love to hear your thoughts as well!
I also put out a survey for my blog this week, in case you missed it! It’s a short survey that just asks a few questions about you and what you like about my blog. Plus, there’s a chance you could win an Amazon.com gift card! Read all the details here.
I am pleased to report that at long last, we are experiencing some warm weather in Pennsylvania! It was 70 degrees Fahrenheit yesterday, and it’s supposed to go up to 80 today, which I’m excited about. I love every season for different reasons, but spring and summer are always fun ones.
This week, I did something a little different and participated in the final (for now) Beautiful People linkup. I talk about some of my favorite tropes, what my characters love, and other fun little writing things. Be sure to give it a read and if you’re a writer, I encourage you to participate in the linkup!
I hope you all had a good week! To be honest, mine was a little bit crazy, since I had a lot going on with classes, work, and other commitments, but aside from that, I’m doing alright! I hope you all are staying afloat as well.
This week, I shared 10 Time Management Tips that I use in my day to day life. To be honest, it can be pretty tricky to balance blogging, school, work, and my (albeit limited) social life, so I’ve learned pretty quickly how to make the best use of my time. If that’s something you have a hard time with as well, be sure to give my post a read!
I hope you all had a wonderful week and are enjoying the weekend now! I just got home for Easter break last night, so I’m enjoying a few days with my family for an extended weekend. Other than that though, I’ve just mostly been working on school projects, reading books, and hanging out.
This week, I wrote about two classic princesses – Zelda from The Legend of Zelda and Peach from Super Mario – and how they break the mold of traditional “damsels in distress.” It’s one of my favorite blog posts that I’ve written in a while, so if you missed it on Monday, be sure to give it a read after this!
I hope you’re all doing well, especially those in the northeast who may have gotten hit with a bit of snow this week… Fortunately, my school cancelled classes on Wednesday, so I didn’t have to go out in the snow too much. It’s a little strange, actually, getting two snow days in one semester. My week was already pretty light work-wise, so having that day off was a real treat.
This week, I shared three of my favorite podcasts that I’m listening to right now. I’ve been getting back into podcasts recently, especially while working on projects and such. If you’re looking for something new to listen to, be sure to give it a read!
I hope you’re all doing well! My week had some ups and downs, but overall, it was pretty good. I have spring break to look forward too now, so I’m excited to head home and spend some time chilling out.
This week, I started a new series on my blog called “The Poetry of Metal,” in which I analyze the lyrics of metal songs and show how the artists use literary techniques to convey their message. I analyzed “Panic Room” by Silent Planet this past week, so be sure to give it a read and let me know what I should write about next!
