21 Fun Facts About My Writing

21 Fun Facts About My Writing

I’ve got a lot of writing projects. Okay, more like three writing projects, but that’s a lot when you’re a worn out college student.

Anyways, I do talk about my projects every so often, but it’s usually limited to a specific character or incident. So, sort of in the spirit of NaNoWriMo, I decided to share some “fun facts” about my three writing projects. If you’re not familiar with these stories, don’t worry – I’ll link to their “About” pages below.

Without further ado, here’s some trivia you can impress your friends with when I’m rich and famous*

*let’s be honest, that doesn’t usually happen – but hey, I can dream.

Beautiful People: Favorites & Farewell

Those who have been following my blog for a few months probably remember the Beautiful People linkups I participated in a few times last year. For those unfamiliar with it, Beautiful People is a linkup hosted by Paper Fury and Further Up & Further In, and each month, they would share a list of questions for writers to answer about their characters. For us writers, it was a great way to get to know our characters a little better, and it was always fun to visit other people’s blogs and learn about their writing projects as well.

Sadly, this month marks the end of Beautiful People (for the time being). Although I started participating a little later than most, I had a wonderful time being a part of this, and I would be remiss if I didn’t participate in this last linkup.

Typically, I would share these types of posts on Wednesdays, since they’re not really a “normal” Monday post. Since this is a “Favorites Edition” of Beautiful People though, I thought it would be fun to share some favorite things from my various writing projects, as well as a few of my favorites when it comes to writing overall.

Week In Review – April 6

Happy Friday, everyone!

I hope you all had a good week! To be honest, mine was a little bit crazy, since I had a lot going on with classes, work, and other commitments, but aside from that, I’m doing alright! I hope you all are staying afloat as well.

This week, I shared 10 Time Management Tips that I use in my day to day life. To be honest, it can be pretty tricky to balance blogging, school, work, and my (albeit limited) social life, so I’ve learned pretty quickly how to make the best use of my time. If that’s something you have a hard time with as well, be sure to give my post a read!

Daily Quote Challenge

Happy Wednesday everyone! Today I’m here with a challenge I was tagged in a few weeks back, but I just got the chance now to participate.

I was tagged by the amazing Anna @ The Story Scientist to participate in the Daily Quote Challenge! Now, I’m bending the rules a little bit because I want to keep to my blogging schedule, so instead of posting one quote every day for three days, I’m doing to post three quotes today, same as Anna did.

The (Traditional) Rules Are:

  1. Thank the person who nominated you
  2. Tag 3 new bloggers every day
  3. Post one quote on your blog every day for three consecutive days

I chose “quotes” that fit my WIP, Summertime, and its characters. Don’t know about Summertime? Well, you can read the first chapter here! I’ve also posted a lot about the main characters, Riley and Leslie, a lot, so you can always read more about them, too.

The three five quotes I chose are…

Beautiful People #24 – May 2017

Welcome back to another edition of the Beautiful People linkup! For those who don’t know, BP is a monthly blog linkup hosted by Paper Fury and Further Up & Further In. Each month, they share a list of ten questions for writers to think about for one of their characters, and then the writers share their answers on their blog! It’s a great way for fellow writers to connect with each other, so for more information, click here.

If you’d like to go back and read (or re-read) some of my past BP posts, you can do so with the links below.

BP #17 – May 2016 (Riley Taylor)
BP #18 – June 2016 (Leslie Summers)
BP #20 – August 2016 (Chey Cooper)
BP #21 – September 2016 (Trevor Johnson)
BP #22 – February 2017 (Leslie Summers and Riley Taylor)
BP #23 – March 2017 (Eden Hunter)

This month is a “parental edition” of BP, so all of the questions focus on the character’s parent(s) and their relationship with their parent(s). I chose to do my character Riley Taylor once again, mostly because I haven’t really talked about his parents before and the story there, so I thought this would be a nice new look at his character. Without further ado, onto the questions!

Beautiful People #22 – February 2017

At long last, I’m back with another edition of Beautiful People! To make a long story short, the last few months have been different for this tag, since they focused on NaNoWriMo works in progress. However, with the new year, we’ve returned to the regular BP, and I’m excited to get back into it!

For those who aren’t familiar with beautiful People, it’s a monthly blog linkup hosted by Paper Fury and Further Up and Further In. Each month, they share 10 questions for writers to answer about their characters, and it’s a great way to work on character development as well as meet other writers! If you want to learn more about it, click here.

Since this month is Valentine’s Day, February’s BP is a “couples edition.” Normally this isn’t my type of thing, but you’re in luck (?) as I happen to have a character couple! Of course, I’ll tell you more about them after the jump, but if you’re interested, you can also check out the other BP linkups I’ve participated in.

BP #17 – May 2016 (Riley Taylor)
BP #18 – June 2016 (Leslie Summers)
BP #20 – August 2016 (Chey Cooper)
BP #21 – September 2016 (Trevor Johnson)

The Six Question Character Challenge

SURPRISE! I said I’d normally reserve Wednesdays for tags and linkups, mainly Beautiful People and Purposeful Pages. I’m doing something a little different this month. Right now, Beautiful People is focusing on NaNoWriMo, which I’m not participating in, so I’m on a little break from that. And sadly, Purposeful Pages is stopping after this month, so I’ll no longer be doing that.

On the bright side, I do have something fun to do this month! I’ve been wanting to participate in Brianna’s Six Question Character Challenge. I wasn’t tagged by anyone in particular, but I heard about it from Quill Pen Writer, Tea With Tumnus, and You Write Fiction, so be sure to stop by those blogs and check out their WIPs too!

For this project, I had picked my three main characters from Summertime, since that’s my most well-developed project right now. I know I talk about it a lot with these sorts of things, but it’s what I know best about, and these character are near and dear to my heart. If you want to learn more about these character, you can check out the Beautiful People posts I’ve done for them (I’ll link to each one) and you can also read the first chapter of Summertime on my blog!

On to the questions!

Summertime Chapter 1

Hey everyone! As I briefly mentioned in my Best of June post, I’m on a missions trip this week! Since I wasn’t around to write a long formal blog post this week, I thought it would be a great opportunity to share some of my personal writing with you guys.

I’ve talked about this before, but I’ve been working on a novella titled Summertime. In the Beautiful People posts I’ve done the last two months, I introduced you to the two main characters, Riley and Leslie. What I’m sharing now is the first chapter in the story, which has been through numerous rounds of editing.

I… Don’t really have much else to say about it, so without further ado, here’s chapter one!

Beautiful People #17 – May 2016

First of all, sorry for the sort of late blog post. I mentioned it briefly, but I’m actually away on vacation with family right now and totally forgot to set up a blog post to go out this week.

Anyway, I’m doing something a little different today! A few months ago, I found this writing challenge called Beautiful People, which I’ve been wanting to try ever since. Basically, every month, a set of questions goes out and writers answer them for one of their characters.

When the questions for May finally came out, I was super excited to try, and I wanted to share my results with all of you in a blog post. I chose to use my character Riley Taylor, one of the protagonists of my novella, Summertime. Perhaps another time I’ll introduce you to Leslie Summers, the other protagonist, but for now, click below to read on!
